Another week has wrapped up, so let’s take a look back, trawl through some celebrity real estate listings, and be in awe at the amount of money your favourite celebrities are selling their homes for, or are dropping on new real estate.

  1. Christie Brinkley’s Hamptons estate (9 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 11,037 sq. ft.) – US$29.5 million

Dubbed Tower Hill, this gorgeous piece of real estate sits on 20 acres of land and includes a guest house with a greenhouse conservatory, observation tower, heated four-car garage, and barn/artist’s studio. Best of all it, it has a view of the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re not sure you can afford to spend nearly US$30 million home, use this nifty mortgage affordability calculator.

  1. Tyra Banks’s Spanish Colonial-style Home (4 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 5,740 sq ft) – $6.4 MIL

Built in 1926, this spacious home includes an exterior fireplace, exposed wood beams, and a swimming pool. Though the former supermodel’s home sold, it went US$1 million under asking but we’re sure Tyra will be just fine.

  1. Nick Carter’s chicken coop (5 bedrooms, 6 1/2 bathrooms, 5,200 sq. ft.) – US$4.25 million

Tucked away in the gated community of Hidden Hills, this home sits on 1.32 acres of land and boasts a guesthouse, plank hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, and a chicken coop (for real!). Bought a year ago at $3.65 million, Nick is hoping to pocket a cool US$600,000 in profit (before expenses, of course). If you’ve ever loved the Backstreet Boys, here’s your opportunity to own a piece of one of them.

  1. Niall Horan (5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 4,412 sq. ft.) – US$4 million

This One Direction crooner has stepped out of the group to purchase his own piece of real estate in the Hollywood Hills. This bachelor pad features a private balcony, large swimming pool, massive rooftop deck, walk-in closet, and an extravagant bath and dressing area. Wonder what you’d be paying if you bought this amazing pad? Look no further, because you can use this mortgage payment calculator to find out.

  1. Hope Solo and Jerramy Stevens (3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, 5,330 sq. ft.) – US$1.85 million

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo and her husband, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, have listed their stunning home just outside of Seattle. This property features wall-to-wall windows, exposed wood ceilings, brick fireplaces, a wet bar, sport court, pool, hot tub, and is surrounded by mountain views. It’s paradise for any nature-loving individual

The bottom line

Whether you’re looking to purchase a million-dollar home like one of these celebrities or something a bit more modest, make sure you search for the best mortgage rates and use  online mortgage calculators to figure out what you can afford.
