May was one for the books. Toronto home sales have set a new record for the month with an increase of 11.4 per cent in movement from last year. Despite the impressive growth in the number of houses sold, there were fewer properties listed. With active listings down – nearly nine per cent from the previous year – and sales up in Canada’s most populous city, buyers experienced an increase in competition. As a result, prices continue to climb with the average sale price in the GTA being $653K. However, house hunters were not deterred and, instead, sought out townhouses and semis largely for their affordability.
