Parking in any major metropolitan area can be a pain, and doubly so when you’re trying to find a spot close to home. The option to buy a parking spot is becoming increasingly common in buildings and with it comes the question: do we buy a parking spot?

Convenience and Accessibility

An underground or attached lot offers more security and convenience than parking several blocks away. Hauling kids, pets, and groceries can be frustrating if you have to travel between the car and home. The convenience of an underground or attached lot will save you a lot of time and energy.

Security and Safety

Secured lots or garages greatly reduce the chances of your vehicle being stolen or broken into. Condo parking lots frequently have security elements like patrols, surveillance cameras, and gated entry. When opposed to parking on the street, these precautions offer a higher level of security for your car, lowering the possibility of theft, vandalism, or damage.

Property Value

Buying a parking space can increase the value of your condominium. Having a designated parking space can add value to your condo when it comes to its resale value by drawing in more purchasers in regions where parking is scarce and in high demand.

Control

Control over how a parking space is used is granted to the owner. It gives you more flexibility and may even bring in extra money if you decide to rent it out to other tenants or residents in addition to using it for your own car.

Peace of Mind

In crowded places where street parking might be unpredictable or subject to parking regulations, knowing that you have a guaranteed parking spot waiting for you can be reassuring.

Investment

Purchasing a condo parking spot is an investment, and will require you to assess your own parking needs and buying power before deciding to buy. You can explore other options, like renting a space in another lot, or using public transportation when considering the feasibility of your own parking space.
