In today’s world, car theft is an unfortunate reality that many of us have to contend with. In the past year, it was reported that over 12,000 vehicles were stolen in Toronto, averaging out to about one vehicle stolen every 40 minutes. Invest in a Quality Car Alarm

A loud alarm can deter thieves and alert nearby individuals of unauthorized access. Consider a high-quality system as opposed to cheaper alternatives; when it comes to such a valuable object as your vehicle, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Use a Steering Wheel Lock

These physical deterrents make it much more difficult to steer and hijack your car, discouraging theft attempts. They can be found at most home hardware stores or on Amazon.

Park Smart

When possible, park in well-lit areas; thieves prefer darkness for their activities, so parking in brighter places can make your vehicle less appealing as a target. Additionally, make use of your home garage if you can, as it can act as an extra layer of protection.

Install a GPS Tracking System

If your car is stolen, a GPS tracker can help authorities locate and recover it quickly.

Always Lock Your Car

Make sure to always lock your car, even if you’re only stepping away for a moment. Thieves often target unlocked vehicles for quick thefts, so don’t make it a habit of leaving your car unlocked for any period of time, no matter how short.

Install Security Cameras

Surveillance cameras can deter thieves and also help to provide evidence in case of theft. They can also help authorities to potentially identify thieves and get a better understanding of what happened.

By following these six strategies, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of your car getting stolen. From proactive measures like installing security systems to simple habits like parking in safe locations, there are plenty of ways to protect your vehicle and give yourself peace of mind.
