Wondering which color will take over the design world? Pantone has named Cloud Dancer as the 2026 Color of the Year. This subtle white promises peace and unity, reflecting a wish for a future without excess while encouraging us to value thoughtful choices and rest.

“Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. Unlike the bold colors of before, the 2026 Pantone Colour of the Year invites a sense of calm.

To help you update your space, here are some ways to incorporate more white touches in your home.

The Power of the Neutral Palette

Creamy white cabinets with brushed gold or brass hardware bring a sense of lasting elegance to any kitchen. This classic pairing works well with many styles, from modern farmhouse to the Japandi aesthetic.

The “Blank Canvas” Philosophy

Treating your walls as a clean backdrop is an effective way to incorporate bold color. A crisp white or soft ivory base lets you experiment with trend-forward hues, such as the Pantone Color of the Year, without overwhelming the room. Whether you prefer soft pastels or dramatic jewel tones, a neutral envelope ensures your accent colors read as curated art instead of visual clutter.

Play With Texture and Colour

A monochromatic space does not have to be boring; the secret is in textural depth. Combine breathable linen bedding and the timeless beauty of a paper lantern pendant to transform a simple white room into a warm sanctuary.

Coastal Materiality

Nothing evokes the breezy, relaxed atmosphere of a coastal cottage like white shiplap. The linear shadow lines add architectural interest to plain walls, grounding the space in a beach-house vibe. Paired with natural woven elements like wicker chairs or jute rugs and crisp white linens, the result is an effortless, airy retreat.

Bathroom Minimalism

When navigating a bathroom renovation, simplicity is often the ultimate sophistication. A white-on-white palette with subway or hexagonal tiles and matching grout creates a sense of hygiene, expansion, and spa-like serenity, keeping the design fresh for decades.

Form Meets Function

While color sets the mood, shape provides the personality. Interior design relies heavily on the silhouette of objects to break up visual monotony. Utilizing sculptural elements, like these floating Umbra shelves, adds the necessary geometric disruption to flat walls, serving as both a storage solution and a visual treat.
