What Are Your Rates, And Do You Offer Binding Estimates?

Usually, the first question everyone has is, ‘How much is this going to cost?’ And while many moving companies have a generalized list of prices on their websites, you want to understand their pricing structure in full, including any extra costs for services like packing supplies or large items. Getting a binding estimate guarantees the total cost of the transfer, while a non-binding estimate is subject to additional costs for things like weight or specialized services.

How Will You Protect My Belongings?

Inquire about the materials used for packing, the methods used for handling, and any precautions made to avoid damage. Recognize how they will handle claims and compensate you for any losses.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

Life happens and sometimes you need to postpone or cancel moving on certain days. Find out what the moving company’s cancellation policy is, any fees you might have to pay, and if you can reschedule.

Is There Anything You Cannot Move?

Ideally, all of your things are going to be moved together on the same day. But if you have special equipment or furniture (looking at you, baby grand pianos), not all businesses will be equipped to help with transportation. You might have to find an additional moving company to transport what others cannot.

Are You Licensed And Insured?

Perhaps the most important question to ask would be insurance status. Do they offer comprehensive or basic liability insurance? Full value protection? What does their basic liability cover? Are there any items excluded or limited in coverage?
