Cleaning Products

Replacing your usual lineup of household cleaning products with more natural, eco-friendly, non-toxic options. Many brands offer plant-based cleaners that are safer for your health and the environment and some offer reusable containers and spray bottles, to cut down on the amount of waste generated by empty products.

Plastic Food Containers

As these containers break or get worn down, replace them with metal or glass substitutes. Not only will these sustainable containers not leak harmful chemicals into your food, but many also have additional uses like cookware or bakeware.

Candles and Air Fresheners

We all love when the home smells like clean laundry or a roasted marshmallow, but many candles and air fresheners release synthetic and harmful chemicals into the air you breathe. Opt for beeswax or soy candles, which smell just as nice. Essential oils, simmer pots, or fresh flowers can replace air fresheners.

Textiles and Mattresses

When you decide to upgrade or replace your mattress, consider one made with organic materials to reduce your exposure to chemicals commonly found in conventional bedding materials. Similarly, bedding and other household textiles like pillow covers made from eco-friendly or recycled materials,  such as bamboo, also provide a healthier alternative to the usual sheets and duvets.

Gas Vs Electric

One of the bigger swaps you could make in your home comes with the argument of gas versus electric. Electric appliances are usually safer, produce near-zero emissions at the point of use, and typically are cheaper to maintain, while natural gas is cheaper than electricity, performs better, and the environmental impact is relatively low.
