Newport Folk Festival – Newport

Dates: July 25-27, 2025

Taking place at Fort Adams State Park, the Newport Folk Festival is as iconic as it gets. Founded in 1959, it’s the birthplace of historic performances like Bob Dylan’s controversial electric set in 1965. Today, it blends folk roots with contemporary music innovators. In past years, surprise guests have included legends like Joni Mitchell and emerging stars like Brandi Carlile. Set against Narragansett Bay, the venue offers a laid-back, communal atmosphere as artists perform with views of sailboats drifting by.

This year, the lineup includes Maren Morris, Jack Antonoff and Bleachers, Luke Combs, Iron & Wine, and many more.

Looking for a place to stay while in town? Visitors are often drawn to neighborhoods like The Point, known for its colonial-era homes and quiet streets, or Bellevue Avenue, close to the famous Newport Mansions. For those who crave waterfront views, Ocean Drive is perfect. The town’s walkability, maritime culture, and strong community events make it a favorite among tourists.

Illinois

Lollapalooza – Chicago

Dates: July 31-August 3, 2025

Lollapalooza turns downtown Chicago into one giant, genre-spanning music experience. Held in Grant Park, it’s one of the biggest and most diverse music festivals 2025 will offer. With more than 170 artists performing across eight stages, the festival features an incredible range of music.

For 2025, Lollapalooza will be headlined by:

  • Olivia Rodrigo
  • Tyler, The Creator
  • Sabrina Carpenter
  • RÜFÜS DU SOL
  • Luke Combs
  • TWICE
  • A$AP Rocky
  • Korn
  • Gracie Abrams
  • Doechii

Beyond the music, Lolla boasts killer food vendors, an art market, a kid-friendly “Kidzapalooza” zone, and aftershows throughout the city.

Chicago offers something for every lifestyle. For a cosmopolitan vibe, neighborhoods like River North and the West Loop provide easy access to nearby amenities. Lincoln Park is also a top pick for families, and if converted lofts are more your thing, check out Wicker Park or Logan Square. Whether you’re renting or buying, Chicago delivers the full city experience.

New Mexico

Albuquerque Summerfest – Albuquerque

Dates: June 14 (North Domingo Baca Park), July 19 (Nob Hill), August 2 (Ventana Ranch Community Park)

Unlike most summer events, Albuquerque’s Summerfest spreads the fun across several weekends. Each one-day festival is free and family-friendly. Expect live music from regional and national acts, ranging from Latin rock and funk to country and soul, along with craft breweries, food trucks, and a bustling artisan market showcasing New Mexico’s heritage. It’s perfect for locals and visitors who want to soak up authentic Southwest vibes without the crowds of a mega-festival.

If you’re thinking about putting down roots, Albuquerque’s affordability and charm are major draws. Nob Hill is known for its funky, artsy vibe, whereas the North Valley offers more rural living. For families, the Northeast Heights offers great schools and mountain views.

California

Outside Lands – San Francisco

Dates: August 8-10, 2025

Held in the iconic Golden Gate Park, Outside Lands is truly one-of-a-kind. What sets it apart is its immersive atmosphere: wine tastings in Wine Lands, craft brews in Beer Lands, bites from San Francisco’s top restaurants in Taste of the Bay Area, and even a cannabis experience called Grass Lands. Add in comedy shows, interactive art installations, and tech-forward exhibits, and it’s a festival only San Francisco could pull off.

For 2025, Outside Lands will be headlined by:

  • Doja Cat
  • Tyler, The Creator
  • Hozier

San Francisco remains a city of neighborhoods, each with its own identity. The Richmond and Sunset districts offer proximity to Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. If you want city living with a view, Russian Hill and Nob Hill deliver historic architecture and sweeping panoramas

Minnesota

Minnesota State Fair – St. Paul

Dates: August 21-September 1, 2025

Nicknamed “The Great Minnesota Get-Together,” the fairgrounds span 320 acres and attract nearly two million visitors annually. Here, you’ll find over 500 food options, a Giant Slide, a Miracle of Birth barn, and musical performances that range from local bands to big-name acts.

But what really makes this state fair stand out is its charm:

  • Butter sculptures of the Dairy Princesses
  • Crop art made entirely of seeds
  • Competitive baking that draws in top home chefs

St. Paul is known as the quieter twin to Minneapolis. The Macalester-Groveland and Highland Park areas offer tree-lined streets, excellent schools, and access to the Mississippi River. For vintage architecture and a strong arts scene, check out Cathedral Hill or Summit Avenue.

Colorado

Telluride Jazz Festival – Telluride

Dates: August 8-10, 2025

Known for its intimate vibe, the festival features a lineup of jazz legends, funk ensembles, soul singers, and experimental fusion artists. During the day, you can hike nearby trails or explore the charming downtown filled with historic buildings and cozy cafes.

For those dreaming of a permanent mountain escape, Telluride is as picturesque as it gets. Townhomes and cabins in the downtown core offer walkable access to restaurants, trails, and ski lifts. The nearby Mountain Village features larger homes and stunning views.
