Whether you’re clearing out clutter, upgrading your decor, or simply looking to make some extra cash, learning how to sell furniture online can be a lucrative endeavour. But with so much competition on marketplace platforms, it can be hard to successfully do so. Here are 6 tips and strategies to help you successfully turn those unwanted pieces into profit.

1. Use High Quality Photos

Capture clear, well-lit photos of your furniture from multiple angles. Nobody wants to buy something they can’t really see. Since photos are worth a thousand words, this is an essential component to your selling success. Be sure to highlight any unique features or assets, as this can make prospective buyers that much more interested in sealing the deal.

2. Write An Accurate Product Description

Provide detailed descriptions including dimensions, materials, condition, and any flaws. Honesty builds trust with potential buyers and is the first step to securing sales.

3. Use Competitive Pricing

Research similar items on the platform to set a competitive price. Consider the item’s condition, brand, and market demand in order to determine an appropriate price that buyers will be willing to pay. Keep in mind that most people aren’t going to purchase secondhand furniture that they could buy elsewhere for cheaper, so setting a realistic price can truly set you up for success

4. Add Keywords and Tags

Use relevant keywords and tags in your listing to improve its visibility in search results. Include popular search terms related to the item as well, so you can increase the chances of buyers finding your listings.

5. Respond Quickly

Respond promptly to inquiries from potential buyers. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is letting a message from an interested party just sit in your inbox, so make sure to regularly check and see if you have any unread inquiries. Answer questions courteously, and provide additional information or photos if requested.

6. Encourage Positive Reviews

Reviews are one of the first things new buyers will look at when considering your services; therefore, encourage satisfied shoppers to leave positive reviews. These can boost your credibility and attract more clientele, so ensure you are fostering positive relationships with your customers.

Selling furniture on marketplace platforms may appear daunting at first, but by following these tips and tricks, you’ll be successfully selling in no time.
