Ever wondered what it would cost to live in the city of your favorite NFL team? Maybe you’ve already considered making the move. After all, living in your team’s city would mean easier access to games, shorter travel times on game days, and the chance to fully immerse yourself in the local football culture. It also ensures you’ll never miss out on those must-see matches, with the opportunity to attend in person and soak up the lively atmosphere in the stadium.

Zoocasa analyzed the median rent and home prices in all 30 NFL cities to determine what it really costs to live in your favorite team’s city.

The Most Expensive NFL Cities

Santa Clara, California, home to the San Francisco 49ers, tops the list as the most expensive NFL city to live in. With sky-high housing prices and a cost of living well above the national average, living in Santa Clara comes with a large price tag. While the proximity to your favourite team might sound like a dream, with home prices over $2 million and rent prices above $3,000, you’ll need a serious budget to make it happen.

Other West Coast cities also come with steep price tags — in Seattle, home of the Seahawks, the median home price is over $800,000, while in Los Angeles, home to the Rams and Chargers, the median price is close to $900,000.

On the East Coast, New England Patriots fans face the highest costs to live near an NFL stadium. In Foxborough, MA, the median home price is $724,500, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. And whether you’re rooting for the New York Jets or Giants, one thing remains the same: homes in the New York metro area come with a high price tag of around $750,000.

Top 4 Most Affordable NFL Cities for Rent

These four cities rank as the most affordable NFL cities to live in, with rent prices roughly 27% to 39% lower than the U.S. average of $1,755. This makes them the perfect place for fans who want to be close to the action without breaking the bank.

Green Bay, takes the win as the most affordable city, with rent prices starting at $1,075 per month, which is a substantial 39% lower than the U.S. average. Following Green Bay is Detroit, where the median rent is $1,200, approximately 32% below the national average. Cleveland, comes in at $1,249, about 29% below average, while Kansas City, completes the list with rent at $1,289, approximately 27% lower than the national average.

Cleveland truly steals the spotlight with a median home price of $243,400, meaning buyers there are paying a staggering 43% less than the national median, making it the best bargain by far for the most affordable home prices in NFL cities.

Cleveland & Detroit: Best of Both Worlds

After analyzing the data on home and rent prices across all 30 NFL cities, Cleveland and Detroit clearly stand out for football fans. If you’re a Cleveland Brown or Detroit Lions fan, you’re in luck. These cities rank among the top four most affordable NFL cities in both rent and home prices.

Living in these cities will allow you to fully enjoy the NFL experience without letting housing costs take a bite out of your budget, leaving more room for tickets, team jerseys, food, and other game-day traditions.
