Set The Date and Time

Pick a date that works for both the new grad but also their guests. It may be tempting to schedule a party on the day of the actual graduation ceremony, but be aware that many of their peers may already have plans with family that day. Instead, opt for a day that provides the most availability.

Create A Guest List

Celebrating a new grad doesn’t have to be limited to the grad’s friends, it can also be for their family, both close and extended. If the grad themself is not making the guest list, be sure to include their input on who’s coming. This is a great opportunity to get all the friends and family together before high school grads start prepping for college, and moving away from home.

Send The Invites

Either send digitally or the old fashioned way through the mail (or setting up an event over social media), but make sure invitations are sent in advance, enough time for people to plan for the day. Include information about where the party is, how to RSVP, and any other special instructions that may be needed.

Plan The Menu

Food is usually on everyone’s mind at a party, so make sure the menu is planned according to the grad and company’s dietary restrictions and what you want to serve. You can opt for a typical sit-down meal, buffet style, or have it catered, whatever works for you and your budget.

Capture Memories

Consider setting up a designated photo area with a background and other decorations, like balloons, or getting someone to take photos throughout the day. Another great option is portable picture printers; guests can leave the party with little mementos of the occasion to remember for years to come.

Enjoy The Celebration!

Finally, remember to relax and enjoy the celebration! This is a special moment for the graduate, so take the time to savor it with your loved ones.
