Celebrity Homes of the Week: Lena Heady, Rosie O’Donnell, Nikesh Arora, Steph Curry
(5 bed, 6 bath, 11,965 sq. ft., US$18.8 million)
FOR SALE: Former Google executive Nikesh Arora has decided to ALT-F4 his property in Atherton, CA. The 11,965-square-foot mansion is on the market for a whopping $18.8 million! With plenty of add-ons, it’s clear to see why any tech guru would be interested in owning a place like this. The five-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom includes an elevator to all three floors – because techies stay on ‘low battery mode.’ It also has an outdoor pool with a spa and heated lounge. As if the property didn’t have enough space already, there is also an underground garage that can hold up to six cars. This tech tycoon is hoping to ‘cache’ in this property pretty soon!
(3 bed, 2 bath, 3,563 sq. ft., US$8 million)
BOUGHT: Did you know – comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell got her big break on the talent show Star Search? More recently, though, she has been on the house search and secured a $8 million penthouse in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The 3,563-square-foot ‘crib’ is located on East 49th Street and is loaded with top-of-the-range appliances – and not just one of each; Rosie filled her 33-foot-long kitchen with two of each appliance! She originally had thoughts of becoming the next Price is Right host…maybe now she wants to become the new Jamie Oliver? The bathrooms within the penthouse have a wee hint of a spa within them. The master bathroom includes an oval free-standing bath and a walk-in steam shower for two and on the bottom floor there is a Swedish sauna! To top of this lavish place, the 1,620-square-foot rooftop terrace provides a beautiful view of the Empire State building and East River.
(5 bed, 4.5 bath, 2,922 sq. ft., US$1.9 million)
FOR SALE: Cersei Lannister, Queen of King’s Landing, is selling her 2,922-square-foot home for $1.9 million. Located in Sherman Oaks, LA, the five-bedroom, four and a half bathroom has a modern twist to it. The home comes with an outdoor shower and saltwater pool for those scorching days in the LA heat. The back garden is very private with horizontal fencing and hedges to keep the King of the North and Daenerys out. Lena created an open plan layout to give the 1951 home a modern feel to it but included painted brickwork and wood to keep the 1950s vibe too. The best of both worlds!
(5 bed, 6 bath, 7,520 sq. ft., US$3.195 million)
SOLD: Selling a house isn’t like a 30-second shot clock in basketball – time and patience is key. Steph Curry recently sold his home at an incredible loss in Walnut Creek, CA. Originally buying the 7,520-square-foot mansion for $3.2 million and adding $500,000 worth of renovations to the house, it was then put back on the market for $3.7million a year later. Unfortunately, this mansion was not a star player in this neighbourhood, as the most expensive property going in Walnut Creek, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion was a definite ‘air-ball.’ The house has its own attached but self-contained house which comes with its own bathroom, kitchen and garage. Of course, the mansion’s main kitchen is fully decked out for Curry’s chef wife with two sub-zero refrigerators, two Miele dishwashers and a Wolf warming drawer. Even with all these additional features, this beautiful home finally sold this July for $3,195,000 – even less than what Curry originally bought it for!
