This week in celebrity real estate – American Idol sweetheart Kelly Clarkson is offloading her gargantuan lakefront property, Jack White scoops up a vintage writing retreat, and Flo Rida buys a home in – where else? – sunny Florida.
Kelly Clarkson’s Massive Tennessee Mansion
(7 bed, 8 bath +3 half, 20,000 sq. ft., US$8.75 million)
FOR SALE: Kelly Clarkson, who won the first season of American Idol and rose through the charts with her signature angsty-pop-country style, has listed the Tennessee home she shares with husband Brandon Blackstock and two children. Sprawling over a huge lakefront lot, this roomy abode features a soaring foyer with grand staircase, several fireplaces, and a massive en-suite with central soaker tub. There’s also tons of country flair – check out her cowboy-themed bar complete with stools fashioned out of saddles and mounted (fake?) greatroom bear. This home is certainly easy on the eyes, hazel or otherwise.
Lori Loughlin’s Fancy Bel Air Fixer-Upper
(6 bed, 9 bath, 12,000 sq. ft., US$35 million)
FOR SALE: Lori Loughlin may be best known for her roles on Full and Fuller House, but the actress, along with designer husband Mossimo Giannulli, has also made a name for herself as a high-end real estate flipper. The pair’s latest creation, a massive Mediterranean-style mansion in the neighbourhood of Bel-Air, has just hit the market for a whopping $35 million. The couple has completed extensive renovations after buying the property for $14 million in 2015, with exposed wood ceilings, formal dining room, a master suite with his-and-hers baths, and stunning country club views. Sure beats the attic, eh Aunt Becky?
Jack White’s Mid-Century Musical Hideout
(4 bed, 2 bath, 3,526 sq. ft., US$510,000)
BOUGHT: White Strips lead singer and head of Third Man Records Jack White has picked up a mid-century abode in the suburbs of Michigan to use as a musical writing retreat, reports The New Yorker. The self-professed vintage lover was likely drawn to the house’s Mad Men-esque period aesthetic, with brick walls, hardwood, and groovy dome fireplace feature. Plus, he scooped up this Kalamazoo home for a song at just US$510,000!
Constance Zimmer’s Spanish Studio City Home
(4 bed, 4 bath, 3,618 sq. ft., US$2.2 million)
FOR SALE: She may play a reality show producer with control issues on TV, but UnReal star Constance Zimmer’s real-life home is decidedly more laid back. The actress has recently listed her charming two-storey home for $2.2 million. Covered in vines, decorated in a Zimmer’s quirky vintage style, and including a large treed lot with firepit, enclosed porch, balcony and guesthouse, it’s sure to draw more than a few suitors.
Flo Rida’s Florida Digs
(5 bed, 5 bath, 7,199 sq. ft., reportedly US$1,040,000+)
BOUGHT: Rapper Flo Rida, known for such hiphop classics Low, In the Ayer, and Whistle, has purchased a home in his namesake state. Previously owned by his producer Elric Prince, Flo picked the home up in a private sale for an undisclosed amount, though mortgage documents reveal he borrowed just over $1 million to do it, reports the Miami Herald. No need for boots with the fur while living in the Sunshine State!
