This week in celebrity real estate: Beyonce and Jay Z make a move on the perfect family home, while actress Demi Moore sells off her NYC penthouse – for $30 million less than hoped. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga chills out in the ultimate desert oasis Airbnb – completely free of charge.

Beyonce and Jay Z’s Modern Bel Air Masterpiece

(8 bed, 11 bath, 30,000 square feet, US$120 million)

BID: The super swank Bel Air neighbourhood of East Gate, already home to the likes of Tom Jones and Salma Hayek, could be in for a considerable boost in star power –legendary music couple Beyonce and Jay Z have reportedly made a $120-million bid on a newly renovated modern compound within its storied gates. Bey and Jay, who are looking to relocate from their New York City digs before the arrival of their twins, should have plenty of space for their growing family in this monster-sized compound, totalling 30,000-square feet of indoor living space, spread over six buildings. The two-acre lot includes four pools (so Blue Ivy won’t need to share with her incoming siblings), steam room and hot tub, media room, and basketball court – but perhaps this house’s most astounding feature is the retractable glass walls that instantly transform the living space into a garden. We think it’s the perfect headquarters for the expanding Beygency.

Demi Moore’s Art Deco Manhattan Penthouse

(6 bed, 5.5 bath, US$45 million)

SOLD: Actress Demi Moore, famous for Ghost, Indecent Proposal, and briefly putting up with Ashton Kutcher, has finally offloaded the pre-war Manhattan penthouse she has owned since 1990 – and her first marriage with Bruce Willis. This three-floor, 1,500-square-foot triplex unit – described as “the embodiment of the last unicorn of Manhattan” – certainly doesn’t disappoint with sweeping views of Central Park, massive flagstone terrace, private elevator, and entertainment room. Moore is reportedly selling the stunning penthouse as it’s “too magnificent to not live in full-time.” However, she only got a portion of its magnificent listing price –  a mere $45 mil, down from the original $75 million.

Lady Gaga’s Coachella Headquarters

(9,500 square feet, $10,000 / per night, US$12 million)

RENTED: When Lady Gaga wasn’t thrilling the crowd at this year’s Coachella festival, she was kickin’ it at this beyond-luxe Airbnb – free of charge, of course! The home rental service lent Gaga the digs (which can usually be had for $10,000 per NIGHT, or $50,000 – $60,000 for Coachella weekend alone) to relax in between sets. Described as a “beautiful desert oasis”, this seven-bed, five-bath Mediterranean-style home features two formal living rooms, an al fresco dining area, pool and cabana, wine cellar, indoor atrium, and three outdoor fire pits. It also has a fireplace in the bathroom – if that’s not a sign you’ve made it big, we don’t know what is.

Gerard Butler’s Los Angeles Rental

(4 bed, 4 bath, 4,490 square feet, $15,000 / month)

FOR RENT: Gerard Butler, best known for wielding a spear and impressive abs in the movie 300, has listed his LA property for rent. This 4,490-square-foot abode is anything but Spartan, though, featuring original architectural details by Elvis Restaino, custom tilework and terra cotta roof, and stunning courtyard with pool and spa. No word on whether there’s a pit for tossing any unwelcome invaders, er, neighbours.
