8 Things to Add to Your Autumn Bucket List

The first day of fall is almost here, and now is the time to make all your fall plans. If you’re unsure what to add to your bucket list or don’t know where to start, here are eight fall activities to make the perfect autumn bucket list.

Apple Picking

September and October are the ideal months to harvest your own apples as this is when the fruit is at its prime. Orchards all over invite guests to come pick their own, and usually, the price isn’t overly steep. Spend time in the fresh fall air surrounded by nature and have fun with friends and family.

Fall Baking

Once you have a basket of freshly picked apples, why not turn them into a tasty treat? Fall baking not only allows you to spend time with others (or have some relaxing time alone), but can be as simple as making cute pumpkin slice-and-bake cookies, or as intensive as a homemade apple pie.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Pick a pumpkin to carve, take cute photos, and at some patches, you can even visit the rest of the farm. Picking your own pumpkin is always more fun than just grabbing one from the grocery store, and you can choose the best one for carving or decorating.

Cleaning and Decluttering

Your bucket list doesn’t have to be all fun and games. Once summer is over, it’s a great time to clear out your closet of clothes you never wear and to make room for your winter garb. It’s also a great time to make room in the house for the upcoming holidays; donate kids’ toys before they get new ones, winter wear you’ve outgrown that could find a home with someone else, and anything else you can think of.

Fall Crafts

Getting creative doesn’t have to be limited to just carving pumpkins. Try making your own fall-scented candle, DIY some Halloween decor, or make your own costume!

Learn a New Skill

Before you’re trapped inside for the winter, start to learn a new skill. Crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, a new instrument, or a new language are all great indoor hobbies to start learning in the fall and winter months. Whatever interests you, having a good indoor activity to do is a great idea to add to any bucket list.

Host a Bonfire

If you have the space to do so, host a bonfire!. A chilly autumn night makes for a great bonfire night. Pair it with spiced apple cider, a fall-inspired menu, and yummy fall treats to eat fireside with friends and family.

Try Seasonal Food

Seasonal fall foods don’t only consist of pumpkin-spiced lattes (but those are tasty). Fall brings a whole host of seasonal fruits and veggies that are not just pumpkins. Kale, cranberries, leeks, persimmons, rutabaga, and parsnips are just some of the produce that is harvested in the fall. Explore farmers markets and local farms to pick up something new to try.
