Creating Cozy Spaces At Home For Fall

There’s lots to love about autumn, and the cozy fall vibes are one of the best parts. As we transition away from summer and prepare for the rest of the year, the urge to embrace the beauty of fall gets stronger. The cooler weather makes us want to hunker down and get cozy – so here’s how to do just that.

Cozy Colors

When we think of fall colors, we typically think of warm tones like reds, oranges, and browns. Cooler colors like navy, aubergine, and maroon can also be fantastic fall colors that transition well into the winter months, all while giving the illusion of comfort and warmth.

Incorporate these colors through soft furnishings like throw pillows, blankets, and rugs. Accent walls or smaller decorative items like candles, vases, and artwork in these rich hues can further enhance the warmth of your space.

Layer Up

Add decorative pillows, throws, and whatever else makes your home cozier. Switch your usual bedsheets for flannel or fleece ones, and change up the texture with velvet or cable knit throws. Not only will having extra blankets and warmer sheets come in handy as the temperature drops, but they go a long way in making any area of the home cozier.

Fall Fragrances

Scents change the ambiance of a room with little effort. Scented candles are the best bet to fill your home with autumn-inspired fragrances, and there are hundreds of choices to choose from. Simmer pots are another fantastic option and customizable to what you prefer. There are lots of recipes online to try, and have the bonus of adding moisture to the colder air.

Swap In Different Textures

While bed linen and blankets are an easy way to incorporate new textures in and around the home, it doesn’t have to be limited to the bedroom and living room. Add a velvet tablecloth to the dining table, or toss a fluffy rug down in a seating area. We tend to seek out comfortable areas when it gets cold, and having these different textures all around will help.

Warm Lighting

Fall means the days are shorter, and we get less natural light. Make up for it by adding ambient lighting all around the home. Light bulbs with a lower temperature will help create an autumn-like glow, and decorative accents like string lights will also enhance the cozy vibes.
