About Waterloo, Ontario

Waterloo is the smallest of the tri-cities of Cambridge-Waterloo-Kitchener that make up the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. While there have been several failed attempts to combine the cities of Waterloo and Kitchener, many still refer to the two municipalities jointly as “Kitchener-Waterloo”. The city is home to Waterloo University, one of the country’s top universities for engineering and computer science. Waterloo’s economy is supported by the high-tech sector with the city’s largest employers being BlackBerry and Sun Life Financial. The city is part of Canada’s Technology Triangle, a joint economic development initiative between Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge.
