The Best Paint Colors for Small Spaces

Small spaces don’t have to feel small, and the paint color you choose can help. While you should paint your space in whatever color you like best, there are certain hues and shades that can make a room feel larger, so here are eight of the best paint colors for small spaces.

White

White is popular for a reason—it makes a small area appear larger because it recedes the walls and reflects light. Satin or eggshell finishes will aid in light reflection and provide the impression of even greater space.

Charcoal and Dark Gray

On the other hand, white might not be the best choice in a space with little to no natural light. The hue could have a reverse effect on your room if there is no light bouncing off the walls. Go deeply into the shadows and embrace the absence of sunlight.

Dark colors like charcoal or black, as opposed to white, will make the room appear more grandiose while still feeling intimate—especially if the ceiling and trim are painted the same color.

Cool Gray

Cool gray is an excellent paint color substitute for white since it still seems bright and airy without being as stark as pure white. Chilly colors give the impression of greater space since they feel lighter and more airy than warm ones. Use this color to create a feeling of coziness and spaciousness in a room with moderate lighting.

Deep Navy

Deep navy can give the sensation of depth and give a room a dramatic, majestic vibe in spaces with limited natural light. Navy is the way to go if you desire the warm, romantic vibe that a black room would provide but aren’t ready to give up color completely.

Taupe

Given that it is on the lighter side of the color spectrum and provides a more vibrant alternative to tans and whites—the two colors that are typically chosen to try to make a small room appear larger—a taupe wall is a great choice for tiny spaces. Light and soothing, taupe elevates a room’s atmosphere while bringing in a pop of color.

Sky Blue

You need look no further than sky blue for the ideal hue for redesigning small bedrooms. A smaller bedroom or living area can occasionally give off a closed-in, cramped vibe, so sky blue is a terrific color option to avoid that impression. It will give the impression that your room is bigger and more light-filled.

Peach

A peachy tone is ideal if you want a tiny bit of happiness. One of the nicest paint colors for a tiny house’s interior, peach offers a touch of warmth and a fresh feel. A peach color, in contrast to a brilliant yellow, is a little more muted but still brightens your room and is guaranteed to make you feel better.

Silver

Think gray, but in a different way. We suggest silver paint for the trendy paint color. This color can complement both traditional and modern décor styles and is not your typical white or beige color for a home. This light shade will give dimension and help maintain the brightness of your room.
