Welcome to Toronto, where every corner might be the setting for a movie or show! If you’re curious about where your fav series has been filmed, or you’re looking for a great photo-op location, here are some of the recent filming hotspots in and around Toronto!

Umbrella Academy

This weird and wonderful Netflix original was filmed mainly in Hamilton and Toronto, with the Scarborough Bluffs and Gage Park being recurring set scenes. Sparrow Academy from season three is really the Gardiner Museum at 111 Queens Park Blvd in disguise and if you have been watching since season one, you might recognize the Lakeview Restaurant on Dundas St. W.

Ginny and Georgia

While a great deal of the show is filmed in Cobourg, the beautiful Wellsbury home is actually located in the Parkdale-High Park neighborhood of Toronto. Ginny attends Wellsbury High School, a.k.a the now defunct Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute. If you remember the beginning of the series, you might remember the little gas station from episode one, which is the EZ Lube Automobile Service in Scarborough!

Work It

An original comedy produced by Netflix, Work It’s ‘Duke University’ is really the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus, while Humber College’s Lakeshore campus masquerades as the fictional Woodbright High School. ‘Underpass Park’ is actually a living art studio by the West Don Lands neighborhood that makes a fantastic stage for the dance scenes.

Trap

Trap is an upcoming thriller by the acclaimed M. Night Shyamalan and was filmed almost entirely in Toronto’s Rogers Centre and the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton! The Rogers Centre is used for the outdoor shots of the concert arena the movie takes place in and gets made over to be the ‘Tanaka Arena’ for the film.

The Boys

The Amazon Prime Video show is based in New York, but Toronto was the primary filming location. Roy Thomson Hall, located in Toronto’s entertainment center, is actually the headquarters of the Vought International firm. Roy Thomson Hall was used to film a few internal rooms as well as the contemporary lobby where the company hosts corporate parties.

Other notable locations include Grace Mallory’s house, located at 31 Fallsview Rd in Etobicoke, the University of Toronto, and Allan Gardens.
