Curating guest room essentials throughout the year can help you feel more prepared for last-minute visitors and reduce the cost of hosting during busy times like the summer or over the winter holidays. Follow these tips to make a guest basket that will help your guest feel right at home.

What Do You Put in a Welcome Gift Basket for a Guest?  

A guest room basket is stocked with essential toiletries and items to ensure guests’ comfort and well-being throughout their stay. Simply put, these welcome baskets are designed to anticipate anything guests might have forgotten to pack. Plus, the basket isn’t just for the benefit of guests. Having these essentials in one place is helpful for hosts, too. After all, keeping a guest room welcome basket helps you keep track of items that might be restocked and products, like hand sanitizer or toothpaste, that can be reused in the future.

What to Include in a Guest Room Basket 

  • WIFI information
  • Universal phone charger
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash
  • Travel-sized toiletries: body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant 
  • Lip balm 
  • Sunscreen
  • Comb /Brush
  • Disposable razors/ shaving cream
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Makeup remover wipes
  • Feminine products 
  • Packaged snacks like crackers, granola bars, and dried fruit
  • Two water bottles 

Guest Bathroom Essentials 

First of all, before visitors come to your home, it’s important to freshen up and get the bathroom prepared. Make sure your guests feel right at home by stocking the with these essentials:

  • Fresh Supplies: Don’t forget to check your supply of soap, hand lotion and freshly washed bathroom linens like a bath sheet, hand towel, and face towels are ready for guests’ arrival.
  • First-Aid Kit: Include essentials like pain relievers, antacids, cold and allergy medicine, and band-aids. Just remember to check expiration dates!
  • Don’t Forget: Last but not least, double-check if there’s extra toilet paper and a plunger within easy reach. Guests might not want to ask for these items directly. 

Extra Ways to Make Guests Feel More Welcome 

  • Plan a Menu in Advance: Remember to ask your guests about their dietary needs and preferences before their arrival. Find out their favorite breakfast choices, such as whether they prefer coffee or tea in the morning, and if there are any special dietary restrictions to consider for future meals.
  • Show Them to Their Room: When walking your guest up to their room, be sure to show them where the bathroom is located and point out where they can find additional supplies, such as extra towels or blankets. Let guests know about where you’ve stocked the first aid kit and over-the-counter medicines so that they can help themselves if needed.
  • Change Bed Linens: Nothing beats the feeling of clean sheets, so ensure you’ve added newly washed sheets before their arrival.
  • Add a Thoughtful Gift: Surprise and delight your guests with a small gift, like a vase of fresh flowers or a box of chocolates on their pillow.
