Whether your living room resembles the aftermath of a tornado or you’re simply seeking new strategies to streamline your child’s play area, finding effective storage solutions can help you feel like your home has turned into a daycare. Here are six simple toy organization tips that can help conquer the chaos and transform your space into a functional family home. .

1. Sort and Declutter

Begin by sorting toys into categories such as puzzles, dolls, action figures, etc. Then, assess each category and start removing broken toys, duplicates, and other items your child has outgrown or lost interest in. This will help to reduce the amount of potential clutter in your home.

2. Make Use of Storage Solutions

Invest in storage solutions that suit your space and needs. Bins, baskets, shelves, and toy chests are all excellent options for keeping toys organized and accessible and are the perfect way to keep all your child’s play things contained.

3. Label Everything

Label storage bins and containers to make it easy for both you and your child to find and put away toys. Consider using picture labels for younger children or labeling in multiple different languages if applicable. In general, labels help in effectively organizing and denoting what goes where.

4. Involve Your Child

Encourage your child to participate in the decluttering process. Teach them about the importance of donating toys they no longer use and involve them in decisions about which toys to keep. This will help them to feel as if they are playing an active role in the process, and will also teach them the value of cleaning and organizing.

5. Create Designated ‘Zones’

Designate specific areas or zones for different types of toys. For example, have a designated area for LEGO bricks, a doll corner, a reading nook, etc. This will help children to understand where each type of toy belongs and also promotes the concept of organization.

6. Establish a Regular Cleaning Schedule

Make tidying up a part of your daily or weekly routine. Spend a few minutes each day putting toys back in their designated spots to maintain organization and prevent clutter from building back up.

Remember: kids as young as two can start learning how to put their toys and books back where they belong. By implementing simple cleaning strategies that your little one can follow, you can help create good organization habits that will last a lifetime.
