In 2024, Toronto was voted the number one place to live and work as a movie maker. With recognition like that, you can expect to pass world-class talent on the street. But where do movie stars eat when they’re not working?

We’ve rounded up some of the restaurants celebrities love most in Toronto so you can try them out. Best case, you’re seated next to an A-lister. Worst case, you still get a meal that’s celebrity-approved.

PAI

Address: 18 Duncan St.

From James Harden and Elijah Wood to Lauren Graham, M. Night Shyamalan, Shawn Mendes, and Alexander Skarsgård, just about everyone has dined at PAI.

PAI brings Northern Thai cuisine to several spots across the city, but its downtown location on Duncan Street is the most iconic. We recommend starting with Som Tum Tad (papaya salad), then moving on to one of Chef Nuit’s favorites like Khao Soi (egg noodles in coconut milk curry) or Kanom Jin Nham Ngeaw (pork rib and tomato soup), and finishing with a plate of mango sticky rice.

Kiin

Address: 326 Adelaide St. W

The sister restaurant of PAI is equally beloved by celebrities. Located on Adelaide St. W, Kiin offers up its take on Royal Thai cuisine. Whether it’s an aromatic curry or a glass noodle salad, the attention to detail on every plate is superior.

“The Boys”  stars Antony Starr and Karen Fukuhara, as well as Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, have all stopped by for the royal treatment at Kiin.

Pearl Yorkville

Address: 730 Yonge St.

If it’s good enough for Martha Stewart, it’s good enough for us. The lifestyle mogul stopped by Pearl Yorkville earlier this year and reminded us why it’s a must-visit for dim sum lovers.

Pro tip: Go for lunch (11 a.m.–4 p.m.) when you can enjoy dim sum at a lower price than dinner.

Ristorante Sotto Sotto

Address: 120 Avenue Rd

If you want to dine like a star, you’ll need to dress like one at this upscale Italian restaurant. Sotto Sotto has a dress code, but don’t let that put you off. The attentive service, mouth-watering pastas, and elegant décor make it well worth the excuse to dress up.

Celebrities, including Drake, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, and Oprah, have all been known to dine here.

Daphne

Address: 67 Richmond St. W

Opened in 2023, Daphne brings classic American bistro fare to an elegant setting. The portions might be on the smaller side, but the flavors are anything but. Foodies will especially enjoy the wood-grilled branzino, the Daphne burger, or the black truffle pizza.

Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, and other stars have all enjoyed a dazzling meal at Daphne’s. If you’d like to follow in their footsteps, be sure to make a reservation.

Curryish Tavern

Address: 783 Queen St. W

Toronto Life included Curryish Tavern on its list of Best Restaurants in 2023, and ever since then the elevated Indian restaurant has become a go-to spot for inventive dishes and modern twists on classic flavors.

Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg even stopped by earlier this year, adding star power to its growing buzz.

Vinny Restaurant & Vinyl Bar

Address: 480 King St. W

Your night starts and ends at Vinny’s. The spot offers both a dinner and late-night menu, so you can enjoy a DJ set while sipping cocktails and sharing bites well into the evening. Their late-night menu, available after 11 p.m., includes tasty treats like grilled shishitos, a wagyu hot dog, and a fried chicken bucket.

Rumor has it Andrew Garfield, Paul Rudd, Dakota Johnson, and Jude Law have each made a stop at this vibey restaurant.

Trattoria Nervosa

Address: 75 Yorkville Ave

For nearly 30 years, Trattoria Nervosa has been a staple for Italian food in Yorkville. The iconic little yellow house serves a relatively affordable selection of pastas, pizzas, and sweet treats.

Its website even highlights snapshots of celebrity visits over the years. From Renée Zellweger to Drake, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z, this Yorkville restaurant has earned its claim to fame.

Toronto’s dining scene has always been world-class, but these celebrity-approved restaurants add a little extra sparkle. The next time you go out for a bite to eat, you might just end up rubbing shoulders with your favorite star.
