The Coosawattee River Refuge is a diverse property in North Georgia that is set up well for entertaining and pursuing a multitude of recreational opportunities. A main cabin, guest cabin, ''game house'', and boat barn are thoughtfully placed throughout a gently rolling and wooded 26 acres that have great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and are bound by the namesake of the property, the Coosawattee River. During the day, it is all about the river. Canoeing, swimming and grilling out while watching the water roll by are favorites of all that visit. For those that enjoy fishing, the river is one of Georgia's most biologically diverse. The most storied pursuit is that of the striped bass. ''Stripers, '' a game fish known for their size and challenge to reel-in can commonly be found here in excess of 20 pounds. In fact, the Coosawattee River record striped bass weighed in at 30 pounds, 12.8 ounces, and was caught by a family member of the property's owner, accessing the river that morning from the property's concrete boat ramp. In the evenings, laughs and tales about the one that got away can be heard at the ''game house'' that overlooks the stocked lake. The property is great for hiking and hunting, and has plenty of room to build new homes with great views of the mountains. Carters Lake and its Marina are a 10-minute drive. Atlanta and Chattanooga are roughly an hour away.
