Constructed in 1913, the Spring Arts House, a stunning Arts and Crafts-style bungalow, underwent a rehabilitation process partly funded by a grant from the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Historical Resources. The restoration also received support from local contributors who provided in-kind donations, culminating in a four-year renovation period. During this time, the house was meticulously refurbished, utilizing aged heart of pine and rare tiling, retaining its authentic charm. Characterized by Ludowici clay roof tiles sourced from Ohio, echoing the house's original French architectural style, the residence boasts a painstakingly restored fireplace with a rediscovered red mahogany mantel featuring intricate carvings and mini-columns. Skilled artisan Chico Villamore meticulously restored both fireplaces using period tile. While the house retained many of its original glass and brass doorknobs, various alterations have been made over the years. The south side of the building saw the replacement of sliding glass doors and windows with an ADA compliant ramp constructed in line with the 1913 Arts & Crafts aesthetic. The original windows were carefully restored, and the back porch on the upper level was returned to its initial design. The side entrance was tiled in a style reminiscent of the nearby Thomas Center. Zoned as U4, the property's intended future use combines office and residential spaces, providing a convenient location near downtown municipal buildings and courthouses. Its proximity to these essential facilities makes it an advantageous location for professionals in various fields.
