It is a relatively short, and quite safe boat trip to Bear Island. The island can be subdivided into three lots. Bear Island consists of approximately 7 acres and is one of the real jewels among the LaHave Islands archipelago. At one time it was settled by generations who farmed and fished in what may seem to us was an idyllic lifestyle. But, in truth, if was probably a tough life. An old stone well and foundation are all the remain as testament to the lives and labours. The island is forest interspersed with the remains of pasture.
