Guelph City Guide

The major shopping centre, Stone Road Mall, is located just off of Highway 6 and Stone Road. Stone Road Mall, featuring over 130 retail stores for all your shopping needs. Another popular shopping centre is Old Quebec Street Shoppes, located in the scenic heart of downtown Guelph. Part shopping centre, part office space, Old Quebec Street traces its origins back to 175 years to the founding of the city.


There are currently no professional sports team that belong to Guelph. Most residents in the city visit Toronto for professional sports.

Guelph Infrastructure

Public Transportation

Guelph Transit is the main transit system, operating a fleet of buses which service the entire city. There are currently no plans for any rapid transit system to be implemented in the city. A majority of major routes run from 5:45AM in the morning until 12:15AM at night Monday to Saturday and 9:15AM to 6:45pm on Sunday. A one-way fare on the Guelph Transit system is $2.80 for adults and $2.25 for children and seniors. A monthly pass can be purchased for $80 a month for adults and $68 a month for youth and seniors.


Guelph Airport or “Airpark” is, in actuality, an aerodrome. At this airport, the CBSA only handles general aviation aircrafts, which carry up to 15 passengers. There are no daily commercial flights that fly out of Guelph. The majority of residents must travel to Toronto’s Pearson Airport for international flights.


The biggest taxi company that operates in Guelph is Red Top Taxi. Because taxis are difficult to hail on the go, it is best to book in advance or visit a train station or hotel where they are usually parked waiting for passengers.

Uber launched in the city in 2015 servicing the Waterloo-Kitchener-Guelph region. Currently, only the UberX service is available for hire.


Guelph is connected by both Highway 6 and 7 that leads to other major cities like Waterloo-Kitchener or Cambridge. To access Toronto, residents can take Highway 6 to connect onto the Ontario 401 highway.


There are currently 2 hospitals in the city of Guelph: Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Both hospitals are located in the city centre, just minutes away from Exhibition Park.
