That\u2019s why I sat down with professional stager Angela Amlani to find out where to look for these year\u2019s hottest trends, what they will be, and how to incorporate them into your home.<\/p>\n

Take Cues from Commercial Design<\/h2>\n

When it comes to finding design and d\u00e9cor trends that will work for you, Amlani suggests: \u201cTake cues from commercial design, and adapt these trends in a practical way into residential design.\u201d She notes that commercial designers often lead the way with inspiring designs that trickle into residential style. \u201cGetting ahead of the curve in a practical and applicable way helps our clients stand out from the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n

Top Home D\u00e9cor Trends of 2017<\/h2>\n

Bold Colours<\/h3>\n

\"Add<\/p>\n

Pantone chose Greenery as their colour of the year<\/a>, which means you\u2019ll be seeing a lot of green making its way into designs. If you\u2019re hesitant to commit to this vivid shade in a big way, avoid painting your walls or purchasing green upholstered sofas or chairs. Instead, try adding some pillows and a throw to a room, which will add depth to your home d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n

Patterns<\/h3>\n

\"Bold<\/p>\n

Patterns will also become more popular, according to Amlani, because they make a room unique and memorable. To incorporate this trend, consider adding a graphic pillow to your sofa or patterned towels in the bathroom. Avoid huge pattern statements that are difficult to remove such as wallpaper or tile, as some would-be homebuyers may disagree with your choice of pattern and be turned off from your home.<\/p>\n

Reflective Materials<\/h3>\n

If your home is ultra-minimalist and streamlined, as many new builds tend to be, consider incorporating reflective materials into your design. For example, pairing a sleek gray couch with a gold accented table lamp and coffee table. Or, if you are updating your bathroom before selling, add brass or gold bathroom fixtures. If you have a small space to work with, such as an office, hang a large mirror. It will reflect light around the space and make it seem more expansive.<\/p>\n

Patterned Tiles<\/h3>\n

The affordable subway tile has finally fallen out of popularity, and instead, geometric patterns will be all the rage in 2017. If you plan to update your kitchen\u2019s backsplash before listing your home, choose hex tile or penny tile, which are both inexpensive but interesting. Or you could even lay traditional subway tile in an interesting pattern, such as vertically or in a herringbone configuration.<\/p>\n
