Ajax City Guide

Located in the heart of Durham Region, the Town of Ajax is one of the fastest growing populations in the Greater Toronto Area. Schools

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) and the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) governs a total of 39 elementary and secondary schools in Ajax.

Retail

There is a total of 7 malls and shopping centres in Ajax, with the largest being RioCan Durham Centre at 90 stores. Other notable centres in the area include Westney Heights Plaza, Baywood Centre and Harwood Plaza.

Parks

Ajax offers a green experience with an abundance of maintained parks, playgrounds, trails and conservation areas. Public Transportation The main form of transportation in Ajax is serviced by Durham Transit Region (DRT) and GO Transit, with buses operating throughout the town. Residents are also able to commute to the Greater Toronto Area via the GO Train along the Lakeshore East rail line.

Airports

Located 45 minutes away from Ajax, residents looking to travel by air will have to visit Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), the closest and largest international airport in the GTA. Handling over 45 million passengers annually, Pearson is the busiest airport in Canada.

Oshawa Executive Airport (YOO), just a few minutes’ drive from Ajax, is a full-service commercial and general aviation facility with aerial services limited to ambulance, police operations and passenger charter services.

Taxi/Uber

The biggest taxi company that operates in Ajax is Durham Rapid Taxi. Because taxis are difficult to hail on the go, it is best to book in advance or visit a train station or hotel where they are usually parked waiting for passengers.

Highways
