    There are a number of ways to value your home depending on what your plans are. If you are just curious, you could do an appraisal on ZooCasa.com and that would give you a quick and easy ballpark figure. You could average this with your property tax assessed value.
    If you are thinking of selling your home, it is best to get a comparative market analysis from a few of your local realtors. I recommend a Re/max agent - I can help you find a great agent in you city.
    If you need the value for refinancing or for splitting assets, you will need to hire an appraiser. Some mortgage companies will pay for the appraisal.
    I hope this helps.

    There are a few ways to do it.
    1) You can use ZooCasa's instant evalutation for a rough estimate but if you are considering selling, you will need a more detailed analysis.
    2) Get an appraiser to give you an estimation
    3) Get a realtor to provide with you a market evaluation

    Appraisers and Realtors use comparative listings to find the value of your property although there are other methods for determining your price in case you have a very unique property.

    It would depend on the purpose of your evaluation. For examples;
    -to sell
    -for an estate
    -to refinance
    -insurance purposes
    -and the list goes on.

    A local professional Realtor can do a comparative market evaluation for you and this would be fairly accurate for you to sell your home. If you are refinancing, the financing institution will send out an approved appraiser. For most other reasons, I would suggest a professional real estate appraiser.

    Hopefully, this answers your question.

    I would suggest contacting a local real estate salesperson to help. If you need a referral for an agent in your area, contact me and I can assist.

    Thanks!

    Contact a REALTOR directly for a professional evaluation. Most realtors will offer this service to you at no charge. We might even recommend that you interview 3 REALTOR’s to make sure that your evaluation is as accurate as possible. This way you will also be able to review the different levels of service that are available to you from a REALTOR. You can start by visiting our web site at www.WeKnowOttawa.com for more tips on selling real estate.

    To evaluate you have to have knowledge/information;
    - of market trend in your neighbourhood for comparison
    - the conditions of those comparisons were in
    - the circumstances/reasons to sell those comparisons
    and any other possible influencing factors that could impact on the value.

    That is why you and other owners benefit from consulting a Realtor, we evaluate objectively to establish the best possible return on an investment of any real estate, be it a principal residency or other.

    The best is to conact your local Realtor, in most cases it's a free service!
