In 1892, Burnaby was incorporated as a municipality, adopting its name from the lake. As Vancouver expanded, Burnaby expanded with it, and over time it transformed from a rural village into a bustling city of its own.
Getting around in Burnaby
Burnaby is serviced by Vancouver's sophisticated SkyTrain rapid transit system, as well as several TransLink bus routes.
The Lougheed Highway passes through the city, connecting it to Vancouver and Coquitlam. The Trans-Canada Highway runs north up to North Vancouver, and south toward Abbotsford and the U.S. border. A number of major streets run between Burnaby and Vancouver as well.

Shopping and Amenities
